Board approves contract for 21 new police cruisers
TERRE HAUTE ? The Terre Haute Board of Public Works and Safety on Monday awarded a bid to finance 21 new city police cars to Community Leasing Partners.
In a special call meeting at 10 a.m. in City Hall, the board awarded the bid to the financial services company, which is a division of Community First National Bank of Manhattan, Kan.
The four-year financial lease will permit the City of Terre Haute to purchase 21 new, equipped Dodge Chargers to be used by the Terre Haute Police Department.
The total cost is a little more than $500,000.
Community Leasing Partners offered the financing at 2.37 percent for a period of four years. The Dodge Chargers, which will be delivered at a rate of about two per week, will be coming from Fletcher Chrysler Dodge Jeep of Franklin. The first delivery is expected this week.
Fletcher was selected to provide the vehicles through a state bidding process through which dealerships present bids to the state of Indiana.
Community Leasing Partners specializes in providing financing to local governments.
