LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Chazz Palminteri is heading back to Broadway.
The Oscar-nominated actor has written a new play, "Human," that is aiming for a Broadway debut in the 2013-14 season.
Tony Award-winning director Jerry Zaks will stage the play, which will have a reading in New York on Friday with Palminteri, Oscar-winning actress Mira Sorvino, Evan Jonigkeit, Sophie Monk and Jeremy Shamos.
No theater has yet been named.
The dark comedy revolves around a chance encounter on a Central Park bench that thrusts two diametrically opposed men into the fight for their lives.
Palminteri made his Broadway debut in 2007 in "A Bronx Tale," which he also wrote. Zaks directed the one-man show, which was based on the 1993 film in which he starred. He was nominated for an Oscar for best supporting actor for 1994's "Bullets Over Broadway."
Scott Zelinger and his brother Brian, who shared a Tony this year for "Death of a Salesman," are producing.
